System Tray Integration
Mimiri Notes runs in your system tray, providing quick access and advanced configuration options.
Basic System Tray Usage
Accessing Mimiri Notes:
- Click the tray icon to open the main window
- Right-click the tray icon for additional options
System Tray Menu Options
Show
- Opens the main Mimiri Notes window
- Brings the application to the foreground
Dev Tools
- Access console content for troubleshooting
- Useful for investigating issues or providing support information
Allow Screen Sharing (Windows/macOS)
- Toggle screen sharing and screenshot protection on/off
- When enabled (yellow icon), Mimiri Notes appears in screen shares and screenshots
- When disabled (default), the application is hidden for security
Keep Tray Icon Visible (Windows)
- Forces the system tray icon to stay visible next to the clock
- Prevents the icon from being hidden in overflow areas
- Useful for quick access
Show in Taskbar
- Control whether Mimiri Notes appears in the taskbar
- Hide for a cleaner taskbar experience
- Show for traditional window management
Launch on Startup
- Start Mimiri Notes automatically with your operating system
- Ensures your notes are always available
- Can be disabled if you prefer manual launching
Offline Mode (Cloud Account)
Work even when you don’t have an internet connection.
- All your data is stored both locally and in the cloud
- Data is synchronized with the cloud whenever an internet connection is available
- Automatic conflict resolution takes care of most cases where you edited on multiple devices
- Manual conflict resolution will show you what changes are in conflict if it cannot be resolved automatically
- History ensures all versions are retained in case of conflict
Note History & Recovery
Every note maintains a complete history of changes, allowing you to recover previous versions or track modifications over time.
Accessing Note History
View history:
- Select the note you want to examine
- Click the History button in the toolbar
- Browse through timestamps to see previous versions
History Interface
What you’ll see:
- Timestamps for each version
- Full content of the note at that point in time
- Read-only view of historical versions
Recovering Content
To restore a previous version:
- Open the note history
- Copy the content from the desired historical version
- Close the history view (important - it’s read-only)
- Paste the content into the current note
- Save the note to preserve the restored content
History Retention
How long history is kept:
- History stored until manually deleted
- You can prune history from Properties on a note

File Operations
Note Management:
- Ctrl + N / ⌘ + N - New note (under current selection)
- Ctrl + Shift + N / ⌘ + Shift + N - New root note
- Ctrl + S / ⌘ + S - Save current note
- Delete - Delete selected note (with confirmation)
Editing Shortcuts
Text Operations:
- Ctrl + F / ⌘ + F - Search within current note
- Ctrl + Shift + C / ⌘ + Shift + C - Toggle password formatting to selected text
- Ctrl + Z / ⌘ + Z - Undo
- Ctrl + Y / ⌘ + Y - Redo
Navigation
Moving Around:
- Up/Down arrows - Navigate note tree
- Left/Right arrows - Open/close sub notes
Search Operations
Global Search:
- Ctrl + Shift + F / ⌘ + Shift + F - Focus global search bar
- Enter - Execute search
Auto-Lock Security
Protect your notes when you step away from your device.
PIN Code
On desktop clients you can enable a PIN code that activates 1 minute after minimizing Mimiri Notes to tray.
Upon resuming Mimiri Notes you will be asked for your PIN code and you will have a single attempt to get it right.
If you enter an incorrect PIN code you will be required to enter your password to proceed.
The single try policy ensures that another party cannot make attempts without tipping you off.
Face/Touch ID
On iOS and Android biometric authentication is automatically enabled if available and triggers after 1 minute of app suspension
